About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Career Counsellor – Higher Education to guide learners who are considering degree, diploma or postgraduate study. It is a consultative role: you help each person weigh the options in front of them and stay with them through the decision.
What you'll do
- Hold counselling conversations with learners exploring higher education courses and pathways.
- Ask the right questions to understand ambitions, constraints and readiness before advising.
- Compare programme options for each learner and explain the trade-offs in plain language.
- Use consultative selling to help learners commit to a course that genuinely fits them.
- Follow up thoughtfully with undecided learners and answer questions from their families.
- Keep accurate notes so each learner's journey can be tracked from enquiry to enrolment.
What you'll bring
- 0–4 years of experience in counselling, education services or consultative sales.
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline; relevant experience may be considered for some assignments.
- Clear, reassuring communication with learners and the parents who support their decisions.
- Reliable follow-up and good organisation across many open conversations.
- A real interest in higher education and how course choices shape careers.
Good to have
- Exposure to admissions processes at colleges or universities.
- Prior experience in the Education & Student Services sector.
- Familiarity with relationship management in a student-facing role.
