About the role

HappinessCue is inviting independent academic mentors and subject experts to join its expert network. Applications made on CareerBricks are reviewed by the HappinessCue team, and suitable experts are invited to register on HappinessCue, where students and learners book time with someone who knows a subject in depth. This is an independent engagement, not employment.

What you'll do

  • Hold one-to-one sessions with students who book you for help in the subjects you know well.
  • Break difficult concepts into clear steps and check understanding before moving on to the next topic.
  • Help learners plan revision around their syllabus, upcoming assessments and the time they actually have.
  • Suggest practice exercises and ways of reviewing mistakes so that progress continues between sessions.
  • Give each student an honest view of where they stand in a subject and what to work on next.
  • Keep brief session notes so that a follow-up booking picks up where the last one ended.
  • This is guidance, mentoring or coaching. It does not include diagnosis or treatment.

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrable experience as an academic mentor, tutor, teacher or subject expert in one or more disciplines.
  • Deep, current knowledge of your subject and of how it is taught and assessed today.
  • The ability to explain ideas plainly to learners who work at different levels and paces.
  • Reliability with bookings, preparation and timekeeping across every session you accept.
  • Willingness to complete onboarding and verification with HappinessCue. Engagement terms are shared during onboarding.

Good to have

  • Familiarity with more than one curriculum or examination board.
  • Experience mentoring students who are preparing for competitive or entrance examinations.
  • Prior experience in the education and student services sector.
