About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a General Manager – Retail Operations to run the operating engine behind every store. You will write the procedures stores follow, enforce sales discipline, then cut waste without hurting service. This senior role answers for efficiency, cost or controls as much as for the shopper's experience.
What you'll do
- Define the operating model for stores, including standard procedures, controls plus service routines.
- Head the operations leadership team, setting goals with regular reviews of performance.
- Enforce sales management discipline through clear plans, reviews or corrective actions.
- Lift store productivity, cutting costs without diluting what customers experience.
- Build talent pipelines for store or area leadership roles.
- Report on operational efficiency to senior leadership, shaping strategic decisions.
What you'll bring
- 12–17 years of experience in retail operations, with senior leadership of multi-store businesses.
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- A proven record of improving productivity or operating efficiency at scale.
- Strong team leadership with the capability to manage performance across many layers.
- The ability to work persuasively with senior stakeholders across the business.
Good to have
- Experience running operations for more than one store format.
- Exposure to technology-led process transformation across a chain of stores.
- Familiarity with cost-to-serve analysis or store productivity benchmarks.
