About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Head – Buying & Merchandising to decide what the fashion retail business sells and how it reaches stores. You will set the buying strategy, direct the teams responsible for range and stock, while working closely with store operations so products sell through. The role shapes sales, margin plus customer experience at once.
What you'll do
- Set the buying and merchandising strategy for each season, in line with business goals.
- Direct buyers through range building, supplier selection as well as stock planning.
- Manage open-to-buy, allocation or replenishment so stores carry the right stock.
- Track sell-through by category, deciding on reorders or markdowns.
- Work with store operations leaders to act on store-level feedback about products.
- Build capability in the buying team through coaching backed by clear performance measures.
What you'll bring
- 12–17 years of experience in fashion buying, merchandising or retail, including team leadership.
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Strong commercial judgement on range, pricing or stock depth.
- Experience working closely with store operations as well as sales management teams.
- Proven ability to develop specialist teams, holding them to high standards.
Good to have
- Exposure to sourcing or negotiating with fashion suppliers.
- Familiarity with fashion trend forecasting, including how it informs ranges.
