About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Head – Travel Business to lead its travel line of business and steer how it serves clients and manages its costs. You will set priorities, run the business budget and build a leadership team that clients and partners can rely on.
What you'll do
- Shape the travel business plan, choosing which client segments and services to prioritise each year.
- Hold the budget for the travel business and make trade-off decisions on spending and margins.
- Oversee travel and hospitality operations so that bookings, itineraries and ground arrangements run reliably.
- Manage travel suppliers such as hotels, airlines and ground handlers as strategic vendors, negotiating terms that protect quality.
- Lead client servicing for the most important accounts, stepping in personally on sensitive issues.
- Recruit, mentor and set goals for the managers who run each part of the travel business.
What you'll bring
- 11–16 years of experience in travel, tourism or hospitality operations, including senior leadership responsibility.
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Hands-on understanding of how travel products are bought, packaged and serviced for clients.
- Strong budgeting skills and sound financial judgement for an entire business line.
- A record of heading teams and building lasting supplier partnerships in travel.
Good to have
- Exposure to event travel or the movement of large client groups.
- Experience running a travel business as its own profit centre.
- Prior experience in the travel and tourism sector at head level.
