About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Primary Teacher – English to help young learners read, write and speak with growing confidence. You will plan engaging English lessons, manage your classroom well, and nurture a lasting enjoyment of language and stories.
What you'll do
- Plan English lessons covering reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and speaking.
- Use stories, phonics and classroom discussion to build reading fluency and comprehension.
- Guide pupils through structured writing tasks, from single sentences to short compositions.
- Assess written work and reading progress, giving feedback that pupils can act on.
- Maintain an orderly, encouraging classroom where every child feels able to contribute.
- Share pupil progress with parents and suggest simple ways to support reading at home.
What you'll bring
- 0–3 years of experience teaching English at primary level, including practice teaching.
- A graduate degree with a relevant subject qualification in English; a B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. is preferred where applicable.
- Strong command of English grammar, usage and children's literature.
- Effective classroom management and lesson planning skills for young learners.
- Clear, encouraging communication with children and regular, helpful updates for parents.
Good to have
- Familiarity with phonics-based approaches to early reading instruction.
- Exposure to running reading clubs or class libraries.
- Prior experience in the Education or Training sector.
