About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Primary Teacher – Mathematics to build strong number sense and problem-solving confidence in young learners. You will make mathematics concrete, logical and enjoyable, so that children approach it with curiosity rather than fear.
What you'll do
- Plan mathematics lessons on number, operations, shapes, measurement and simple data.
- Use objects, visuals and games to make abstract ideas concrete before moving to written methods.
- Set practice work at different levels so that every child is challenged appropriately.
- Assess understanding regularly and identify misconceptions before they become gaps.
- Give extra support to children who need it and stretch those ready for more.
- Run an orderly classroom with clear routines that support focused work.
- Share progress with parents and suggest simple practice ideas for home.
What you'll bring
- 0–3 years of experience teaching mathematics at primary level.
- A graduate degree with a relevant subject qualification in mathematics; a B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. is preferred where applicable.
- Sound subject knowledge and the ability to explain a concept in several ways.
- Good classroom management and lesson planning skills for mathematics periods.
- Patient, encouraging communication with children who find mathematics difficult.
Good to have
- Familiarity with manipulatives and other activity-based methods for teaching mathematics.
- Exposure to mental arithmetic or mathematics enrichment activities.
- Prior experience in the Education or Training sector.
