About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Modern Trade Manager to manage relationships with organised retail chains. You will own the commercial relationship with these accounts, coordinate execution in stores and improve how the business performs in modern trade.
What you'll do
- Own relationships with modern trade accounts, from central buyers to category teams.
- Negotiate listings, trading terms and promotional calendars with retail partners.
- Coordinate supply, merchandising and in-store execution across internal teams.
- Review account-level performance and act on gaps in availability or sell-through.
- Guide modern trade executives on store visits, reporting and account servicing.
- Follow up on deductions, claims and open issues with chains until they are settled.
- Prepare account reviews that show each chain what is working and what will change.
What you'll bring
- 3–11 years of experience in modern trade, key account management or retail sales.
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline; relevant experience may be considered for some assignments.
- Confidence negotiating with retail buyers on terms and visibility.
- A solid grasp of retail metrics such as sell-through, fill rate and margin.
- Steady coordination skills across supply, marketing and finance colleagues.
Good to have
- Prior experience in consumer, e-commerce or professional services businesses selling through chains.
- Exposure to joint business plans agreed with national or regional retailers.
- Familiarity with retailer portals for orders, claims and reconciliation.
