About the role

One of our prestigious clients is hiring a General Manager – Marketing to lead marketing as a commercial function, tied closely to sales and retail planning. You will set direction, sit with senior leaders on business decisions and build a team equipped for the next stage.

What you'll do

  • Turn the commercial plan into a marketing vision with clear yearly priorities.
  • Run joint planning with sales and retail heads on promotions, launches, forecasts and stock.
  • Build succession and capability within your leadership group through deliberate coaching.
  • Govern spend with a simple, visible view of return on investment across activities.
  • Speak for marketing in senior forums and influence pricing, range and channel decisions.
  • Deepen the business's understanding of shoppers so that decisions rest on evidence.

What you'll bring

  • 12–16 years in marketing, including senior leadership roles in consumer or retail businesses.
  • An MBA or PGDM, with strong commercial and strategic grounding.
  • Financial acumen, including comfort with margins, forecasts and the economics of promotions.
  • Proven ability to guide teams through change while keeping delivery on track.
  • Experience working as a peer to sales, retail and finance heads.

Good to have

  • Exposure to retail marketing that combines stores with digital and online channels.
  • Experience steering a consumer brand through significant transformation or repositioning.
  • Prior experience in the consumer retail sector across multiple trading seasons.
