About the role

One of our prestigious clients is hiring an Editorial Assistant to support the editorial desk with research, fact-checking and day-to-day publishing. You will help reporters and editors get accurate stories out and contribute your own writing as you learn. It is a grounding in how a newsroom actually works.

What you'll do

  • Research background material, data and sources for upcoming stories.
  • Fact-check names, figures and quotes before articles are published.
  • Upload and format stories for digital publishing, adding images and links.
  • Transcribe interviews and assist reporters with basic reporting tasks.
  • Write short news items and updates under editor guidance.
  • Keep the editorial calendar and story archives organised and up to date.

What you'll bring

  • 0–3 years of experience in an editorial, newsroom or publishing setting; freshers are welcome.
  • A graduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Media Studies or a related discipline.
  • Careful attention to accuracy and detail in names, numbers and quotes.
  • Clear writing and good research skills for short news formats.
  • Willingness to take direction and learn editorial standards quickly.

Good to have

  • Exposure to a student publication or a media internship.
  • Familiarity with content management systems used by publishers.
  • Interest in digital audience trends and how readers find stories.
