About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Sub-Editor – Digital Content to polish copy before it reaches readers. You will check facts, tighten writing and shape headlines so every story is accurate, clear and ready for digital publishing.
What you'll do
- Edit copy from reporters and writers for accuracy, clarity, structure, grammar and house style.
- Fact-check names, numbers, dates and claims, querying writers whenever something does not add up.
- Write headlines, standfirsts and summaries that are accurate and work well online.
- Cut or rework stories to fit length and format without losing their meaning.
- Publish and update articles in the content management system, checking links and images.
- Spot legal or ethical risks in copy and escalate them to senior editors.
What you'll bring
- 1–4 years of experience in sub-editing, copy editing or reporting.
- A graduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Media Studies or a related discipline.
- Excellent grammar, spelling and command of style conventions.
- A sharp eye for errors, inconsistencies and weak structure in other people's work.
- The ability to stay accurate when several stories land close to deadline.
Good to have
- Experience writing headlines optimised for search and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with media law basics such as defamation and copyright.
- Some reporting or interviewing experience of your own to draw on.
