About the role
One of our prestigious clients is hiring a Junior Journalist – Digital Media to report and write stories for online readers. It suits someone at the start of their journalism who wants to sharpen their reporting while publishing regularly.
What you'll do
- Pitch story ideas and research background, data and sources before you start writing.
- Interview sources by phone, video or in person, taking accurate notes and exact quotes.
- Write clear news and feature copy for digital publication under the guidance of editors.
- Fact-check names, figures and claims, and attribute information correctly in every story.
- Prepare stories for digital publishing with headlines, summaries and links that suit online readers.
- Revise copy quickly after editorial feedback and update published stories as events develop.
What you'll bring
- 0–3 years of experience in reporting or writing; recent journalism graduates are encouraged to apply.
- A graduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Media Studies or a related discipline.
- A strong grasp of news values and accurate, readable writing.
- Comfort approaching people for interviews and asking sensible follow-up questions.
- Respect for verification, fair attribution and correcting mistakes openly.
Good to have
- Published clips from student publications, internships or an independent blog.
- Familiarity with search-friendly headlines and the reading habits of digital audiences.
- Exposure to shooting simple photos or video to accompany stories.
